Ok. So many of the fans of ABC’s LOST have bolted this season. Some left because of the lack of revelations to the ongoing mysteries, and some left because of the ill-advisede 13-week hiatus. But, man, after this season’s finale (aired last Wednesday 23 May) they should be coming back in droves.

Sure, the finale created a whole new bag of questions which will keep us scratching our heads until it returns in Feb. 2008. But, isn’t that what it’s all about? The mystery? The thought-inducing drama?

So, yes, some dissed LOST because of impatience, and I will even admit that the beginning of this season left me less than thrilled…but it’s back and back big.

Mother’s Day is here again. It is truly a time of reflection, remembrance, and celebration. But, for some, a time of ill-regret and sadness. I am one of the fortunate ones: I have a great mother who loves me and supports me in all of my endeavors. I am very fortunate for that. Unfortunately, many out there have not had that experience. Instead, they are stuck with mothers who care very little, if at all, for them. They are stuck with mothers who abandon them and leave them lonely and disturbed.

On this Mother’s Day, let’s remember our mothers who have supported and loved us unconditionally. But, let’s also remember those who did not have that experience as a child. Let us remember and be thankful for all of those women who have touched our lives in so many ways, whether they are biologically related to us or not. Let us remember those who cannot have children biologically, and remind ourselves that even though this is Mother’s Day, that they are no less of a “mother” to us and are certainly no less of a woman.

If we stop to think about it, Mother’s Day really encompasses more than we realize.

ABC.com will be airing, what will hopefully be and education and entertaining, dialogue/debate between two pairs concerning the existence of God. I did not catch the names of the against-existence folks but on the other side will be Way of the Master stars Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort.

The theology that both Cameron and Comfort present are not what I really uphold as my own, however, I have to admit that I admire and like Cameron – mainly because of his previous work on the great 80s sitcom classic Growing Pains. He’s passionate and I give him thumbs-up for that. I’ll be checking this debate out, although the notion of having to prove God’s existence seems to fly in the face of faith which is so highly upheld in Christianity particularly.

[On a side note, I think they should have included others from other faith traditions to this debate such as Muslims and Jews to give a more balanced approach].

Yeah, it probably does. If someone is wanting to confess something to ease their conscience, then confessing it on a website would seem to be an optimum way to get the word out there, so to speak. One’s anonymity is kept intact (I hope), yet they are able to vent their guilt. A pretty neat idea, if I do say so myself.

American Idol, tonight, was chock-full of celebrities and artists but one in particular stood out. It was Celine Dion and Elvis singing together, not just musically but (somehow) physically as well. I know it was some shifty video/computer technology that brought that duet into existence…and though it wasn’t the most ideal of duet partnerships…but it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. It actually looked halfway genuine and, dare I say, real.

I’m not of a huge fan of Celine Dion (which is hypocritical in one way because if I hear one of her songs on the radio I am destined to at least sing the song in my head…and we all do it so don’t deny it!), but I have to give her credit in this particular performance for not trying to showboat the entire thing like she does so many times. She actually shared the stage with Elvis…or video Elvis…or whatever the hell it was. Precisely, whatever the hell it was, was pretty damn cool.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Sheryl Crow as an artist. I am also very much in favor of helping to stop any lasting negative effects we as humans have had on the environment. However…

Sheryl Crow has yet again proven that speaking outside of the singing genre just is not a good idea for her. Her worth-writing-about-solution to global warming: conserve toilet paper. According to Crow, we should really only use 1 square but, of course, there are times where 2-3 squares are required. She also mentions napkins are being a waste and she feels so strongly about it that she has developed a clothing-line where your sleeve can be used as a napkin.

Ok. I see what she’s saying. I am all for environmental stewardship and conservation. But aren’t there bigger issues, regarding the environment, that we should be focusing on besides toilet paper and napkins? Possibly…industrial wastes…or carbon monoxide pollution…or the pollution of our rivers and streams…maybe those things?

All that Crow has done here is to, once again, take away from the seriousness of the issues by making such ridiculous statements that people (like me) are just going to laugh at.

Well, it has been over two weeks now since Lori and I officially tied the knot. We’re fresh off of the wedding nuptials and even fresher off of the honeymoon…which was fabulous, by the way!

I’m not naive enough to think that marriage is going to be peaches ‘n cream all the time, but right now, it is nothing but wonderful. It is great to have that other half be your other half. There were many times in my life that I wondered if I would ever get married…if I’d ever find that one special girl. Luckily, I did and I’m thankful every day for that. It’s a wonderful experience.

My marriage, however, has put many things into perspective. Not for me or Lori or others wholly, but in relation to issues. I would imagine the joy Lori and I experienced over two weeks ago is something that is a bit robbed from those who cannot marry. That includes gays, loners and, sure, even Roman Catholic priests among others. The priest and loner marriage is a minor issue compared to the gay one. I’m not sure how much my own ability to marry will affect my view on homosexual marriage. I think it will take time to sort that out and see the affects of how my views will change on that particular issue.

Hmm indeed.

BREITBART.COM – Edwards: Jesus Would Be Appalled

John Edwards, hopeful Democratic presidential candidate, has staked a claim to what he believes Jesus thinks about America. America, according to Edwards, has allowed the suffering to continue to suffer and has stripped prayer away from children in school [an odd statement by a Democratic candidate].

Although, I’m not on the same page with Edwards politically and, honestly, I’m not a big fan of his, I do agree with him – at least halfway. America has allowed suffering to continue all for the sake and preservation of capitalistic greed. This is a horrible thing indeed. I’m not so sure that America as a whole is to carry out Christian love as much as the Christians within America are. It is us, the body of Christ, that are to help end the suffering of the suffering, i.e., bring about the Kingdom of God.

As for the prayer remark, I believe that to be a ploy to gain support. He initially gave this interview to Beliefnet.com, which is viewed by conservative and liberal Christians alike. I think he’s just trying to play the odds here. A typical political move made by all politicians regardless of affiliation.

I agree with Edwards, though the complete reference to what he’s referring to is disagreeable to me I suppose. Jesus probably is appalled with America, but we as Christians can hopefully change that.

Oh, it’s regarded as true. Jose de Jesus of Houston is claiming to be the Parousia of Jesus. Not only that, he’s also claiming to be the Antichrist as well. [Now, how he mixes the two is really weird and unique, I believe.] Right now, he seems to be gaining quite a following; even having his followers get the numbers “666″ tattooed on them.

It’s just plain weird. It will also be featured in “The Outsiders” on ABC tonight at 9p. Check your local listings!
