Don’t get me wrong, I love Sheryl Crow as an artist. I am also very much in favor of helping to stop any lasting negative effects we as humans have had on the environment. However…
Sheryl Crow has yet again proven that speaking outside of the singing genre just is not a good idea for her. Her worth-writing-about-solution to global warming: conserve toilet paper. According to Crow, we should really only use 1 square but, of course, there are times where 2-3 squares are required. She also mentions napkins are being a waste and she feels so strongly about it that she has developed a clothing-line where your sleeve can be used as a napkin.
Ok. I see what she’s saying. I am all for environmental stewardship and conservation. But aren’t there bigger issues, regarding the environment, that we should be focusing on besides toilet paper and napkins? Possibly…industrial wastes…or carbon monoxide pollution…or the pollution of our rivers and streams…maybe those things?
All that Crow has done here is to, once again, take away from the seriousness of the issues by making such ridiculous statements that people (like me) are just going to laugh at.

I absolutely see your point, and I couln’t agree with you more. The thing is, this whole “green” movement (whatever that means) needs to start somewhere. Having artists give pointers to their audience about ways they can slowly make a difference isn’t such a terrible thing. Of course there are more effective ways they could share the whole truth with everyday people, but this is most definitely a start. Plus, when people feel like they’re getting involved, they seem to get anxious and excited about new ways they can continue to help.
