Salvation: Just click and confess – 04/29/2007 – MiamiHerald.com

Confessional persons will be thrilled to know that this long-standing element of the Christian faith (and others as well) has now reached the 21st century. You just go online to a confession website, click, and confess. Pretty simple. But does it work?

Yeah, it probably does. If someone is wanting to confess something to ease their conscience, then confessing it on a website would seem to be an optimum way to get the word out there, so to speak. One’s anonymity is kept intact (I hope), yet they are able to vent their guilt. A pretty neat idea, if I do say so myself.

American Idol, tonight, was chock-full of celebrities and artists but one in particular stood out. It was Celine Dion and Elvis singing together, not just musically but (somehow) physically as well. I know it was some shifty video/computer technology that brought that duet into existence…and though it wasn’t the most ideal of duet partnerships…but it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. It actually looked halfway genuine and, dare I say, real.

I’m not of a huge fan of Celine Dion (which is hypocritical in one way because if I hear one of her songs on the radio I am destined to at least sing the song in my head…and we all do it so don’t deny it!), but I have to give her credit in this particular performance for not trying to showboat the entire thing like she does so many times. She actually shared the stage with Elvis…or video Elvis…or whatever the hell it was. Precisely, whatever the hell it was, was pretty damn cool.

Found: The New Earth | the Daily Mail

European scientists have found a planet, approximately 20.5 light-years away that has an atmosphere very similar to that of earth’s. Could that be a habitable planet that other life is on right now? It is very possible…and very exciting.

So, dear readers, is there life outside of earth, you think?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Sheryl Crow as an artist. I am also very much in favor of helping to stop any lasting negative effects we as humans have had on the environment. However…

Sheryl Crow has yet again proven that speaking outside of the singing genre just is not a good idea for her. Her worth-writing-about-solution to global warming: conserve toilet paper. According to Crow, we should really only use 1 square but, of course, there are times where 2-3 squares are required. She also mentions napkins are being a waste and she feels so strongly about it that she has developed a clothing-line where your sleeve can be used as a napkin.

Ok. I see what she’s saying. I am all for environmental stewardship and conservation. But aren’t there bigger issues, regarding the environment, that we should be focusing on besides toilet paper and napkins? Possibly…industrial wastes…or carbon monoxide pollution…or the pollution of our rivers and streams…maybe those things?

All that Crow has done here is to, once again, take away from the seriousness of the issues by making such ridiculous statements that people (like me) are just going to laugh at.
